Project Highlights

LOCATION: Richmond, Virginia

The Klaus Family Tree House at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden underwent a comprehensive rebuild, featuring a new design that includes an adventure trail, a forest floor room, a canopy room, and a cloud tower, each offering enhanced opportunities for exploration. Designed with inclusivity in mind, the tree house incorporates a gently sloping ramp, allowing wheelchair users to fully engage with all its offerings. The project demanded meticulous attention to detail due to the challenges of working in an active environment where the site could not be fully secured. The work was completed in small, phased stages, with structural modifications requiring custom components created without design drawings. This approach necessitated flexibility and resourcefulness, as the team adapted quickly to meet the client’s needs and ensure their satisfaction. Emphasizing quality and leveraging the expertise of an experienced construction manager, the project incorporated value engineering and design-assist methods, all while staying within the scope of the project.
